The WPT World Championship taking place at the Wynn Las Vegas brought in 2,392 entries, which at a buy-in of $10,400 means a prizepool of $23,441,600. That leaves the winner with $3,138,900, which includes a $10,400 ticket to next year's WPT World Championship.
299 players entered yesterday's Day 3 and all were already ITM. Of those, only 61 players remained at the end of the day and all of them already have at least $59,000 in the bag. They are led by American player Michael Berk with a stack of 8,110,000. The second largest stack is held by Ukrainian player Serhii Popovych (7,945,000) and the top three are rounded out by Austrian player Fabian Gumz with a stack of 7,165,000.
The list of advancers also includes such names as Mikita Badziakouski (6,730,000), Chris Moorman (5,345,000) and Niall Farrell (2,270,000).
WPT Alpha 8
The first day of the $25,800 buy-in WPT Alpha 8 kicked off yesterday with 111 entries and a prizepool of $2,775,000. A $787,959 prize awaits the winner here and 22 players will battle it out in the final table.
The chipleader here is Shannon Shorr with a stack of 2,890,000. However, there is also Sean Winter, Joe McKeehen, Brian Rast, Sam Soverel and Dylan Smith. Only 13 players can make it to the ITM and the mincash is worth $63,548.
