The Pokerstars Open is a new series that kicked off this year and will have several stops. The very first stop was in Campione, where the Main Event was the main attraction with a buy-in of €1,100 and a €1,000,000 guarantee.
The Main Event brought in 2,423 entries, which is more than the population of Campione. This number of entries brought the prizepool to €2,326,080, with €363,000 awaiting the winner.
The final day featured the top 26 players. The biggest prizes were dealt out at the final table, where Spanish player Manel Montalban came in as chipleader with a stack of 17 million. The final table was heavily dominated by the Italians, but also included Romanian player Adrian State, German player Andreas Putz and Czech player Jakub Sterba. Just before the final table, Swiss player Friedrich Raez busted out in 10th place, taking home €25,650.
Jakub Štěrba was in last place for a long time with the lowest chip count. However, he still managed to jump over a few payjumps. Francesco Legnaro was the first to say goodbye to the tournament and was followed to the cash desk by Adreas Putz, who earned €43,340 for his 8th place finish. Jakub Szczerba eventually finished in a 6th place, worth €73,210.
Original chipleader Manel Montalban took 4th place with a reward of €123,760 and Adrian State made it to the final heads-up where Giorgio Soceanu sat against him.
