Malta's Casino Malta hosted the Battle of Malta series in recent days, with the Main Event offering a €500,000 guarantee for a buy-in of €600. The entries count stopped at 1,542, which represented a prizepool of €776,397.
The winner was waiting for €120,000 and that amount was contested by the last eight players at the final table yesterday. Sitting at the final table as a massive chipleader was Polish player Adrian Ziemichod, who had a stack of over 21,000,000. The player with the second largest stack was American Robert Perelman with a stack of 10,100,000.
The final table lasted approximately seven hours, after which the aforementioned pair met in the final heads-up match. Here, Ziemichod had a lead of as much as 9:1 and the entire heads-up was thus of short duration. After the last hand was dealt, the winner was Adrian Ziemichod, who took home €120,000. With this win, Adrian surpassed the $350,000 mark in live tournament earnings. Robert Perelman earned €70,000 for his second place finish.
