Alex Foxen hasn't played a Triton tournament in 5 years, now wins his first title

The fourth tournament, but number 5, of the Triton Monte-Carlo series was the NLH 8-Handed with a buy-in of $53,000, 147 entries and a prize pool of $7,350,000. A prize of $1,710,000 awaited the winner here.

There were 31 players going into the final day and they were led by Dominykas Mikolaitis. The chipleader going into the final table was Alex Foxen, who had a stack as high as 8,575,000.

Alex hadn't appeared at Triton since 2019 and now he had a chance to win his first title. Playing in the last four, the players made a deal after which Alex secured $1,300,000 and the battle went on for the title and an extra $170,000 for the winner.

Aleks Ponakovs eventually made it to the final heads-up against Foxen. However, Aleks handled him handily and took home his first Triton title along with $1,470,000 in prize money. After his win, Alex said that he and his wife Kristen will be seeing a lot more of him at Triton.

Tournament #6 will see its champion today

The number 6 tournament, which is the NLH 8-Handed with a buy-in of $106,000, got underway yesterday. It brought 131 entries and a prizepool worth $13,100,000. Only 23 players can enter the ITM, with a min-cash of $152,000 and a $3,046,000 prize awaiting the winner here.

There are 52 players through to the final day and the chipleader here is Fedor Holz with a stack of 1,305,000. Among those advancing are names such as Steve O'Dwyer, Roland Rokita, Nick Petrangelo, Chris Brewer, Mario Mosböck, Nacho Barbero, Stephen Chidwick, Alex Foxen, Espen Jorstad, Roman Hrabec and Phil Ivey.
