MPP Main Event dominated by Azamat Lamkov

The Mediterranean Poker Party Main Event had a buy-in of $5,300 and a $5,000,000 guarantee. However, the latter was left in oblivion thanks to 1,260 entries and the prizepool was worth $6,048,000. Thus, a $1,000,000 prize awaited the winner.

The top 9 players at the final table fought for this amount yesterday. Kirill Shcherbakov was the massive chipleader here, with Leon Sturm hot on his heels. This pair had more chips than all of their opponents combined at the start of the day.

Leon Sturm gradually worked his way up to the chipleader position and was well on his way to the title. However, everything changed and Leon Sturm eventually finished in third place, which was worth $440,000.

The final heads-up match pitted two Russian players against each other. Final Day chipleader Kirill Shcherbakov and Day 2 chipleader Azamat Lamkov. Azamat Lamkov emerged victorious out of the duo, becoming the champion and taking home $1,000,000 along with a huge trophy.
