The record-breaking autumn edition of the Battle of Malta Main Event, held at Casino Malta, brought in 5,799 entries and a record prizepool of €2,578,172. A prize of €300,800 originally awaited the winner here.

Vasileios Zisis who looking to defend Battle of Malta title, is massive chipleader in final

The top 9 players were seated at the final table, with Greek player Vasileios Zisis leading the way as the massive chipleader. Zisis was the winner of the spring edition of this tournament, when he took home €100,000. He had a great chance to defend his title.

Right at the start of the final table, the players and the organizers agreed to adjust the payout structure, leaving €255,800 waiting for the winner. Subsequently, we witnessed four hours of play without a single elimination. This streak was broken by Pasquale Gregorio, who finished in 9th place. Eliminations then resumed at the standard pace.

Defending champion Vasileios Zisis with a stack of 122 million and Cosme Gomez Martinez with a stack of 83 million made it through to the final heads-up. Interestingly, Cosme entered the final table with the smallest stack, and was now fighting for the biggest prize.

Although initially everything looked like Zisis would defend his title, in the end he was unable to do so. Cosme turned the game in his favour and managed to become the Battle of Malta Main Event champion. He took home €255,800 for the win and Vasileios Zisis had to settle for second place and €160,800.
