História The Big Game

The big game, a TV show that aired its first two seasons on Fox Sports in 2010-2011, is surely well-remembered in the memory of the poker fans. In an exciting and fun game, you could watch names like Daniel Negreanu, Phil Hellmuth, Tony G, Justin Bonomo, and the legendary "godfather of poker" Doyle Brunson was also at the table.

The high stakes cash game format is played with $200/400 blinds, the bets were limited before the flop, but then after the flop the players could spin it to the max. The five professionals and poker stars were joined at the table by an amateur player, also called "Loose Canon", who received a starting stack of $100,000 from PS. In order to keep the profit, he had to play 150 hands against the pros, with participating pros able to buy into the game for a maximum of $500,000.

The possibility to qualify for the show was offered by PS in daily online satellites. From these, 200 winners subsequently recorded introduction videos, among which the creators chose one lucky person every week. "The Big Game" was put on hold in 2011 in response to a court ruling that prevented PS from continuing to offer its services in America.

Big comeback

During this year's premiere of the EPT stop in Cyprus, the production pleased the viewers of the live streams with the news that the aforementioned The Big Game will return in style after a long break, when it will be part of the North America Poker Tour. It was NAPT that also became a victim of Black Friday, but side by side, players and spectators will be delighted by these two brands together.

In the new series, a starting stack of $50,000 is prepared for "Loose Canon" and blinds of $100/200 will be played. The show returns under the new name "The Big Game on Tour" and under the umbrella of NAPT, freeroll satellites will be organized in early November, the winners of which will advance to the casting. Two of them will be selected for filming by a panel of poker commentators James Hartigan and Joe Stapleton.

The entertainment potential of the contestants will definitely weigh in the selection, as it is, after all, a poker show. The production promises 10 episodes in the new series, and it is not excluded that it will be part of other popular live poker stops under the auspices of PS. The show has produced several memorable moments in the past, the most notable of which was probably this legendary hand of amateur Wiggins against Phil Hellmuth:
