The WPT Cambodia runs from February 6 to February 24 at the NagaWorld Integrated Resort in Phnom Penh, where it has brought a total of 63 tournaments. One of them is the WPT Prime Cambodia with a buy-in of $1,100 and a guarantee of $750,000.
This event had record breaking 1,484 entries and a prizepool of $1,439,480, making it the largest WPT Prime held in Cambodia. A $233,680 prize awaited the winner here, which included a $10,400 ticket to December's WPT World Championship.
Final table progress
The 9-seat final table saw Portuguese player Manuel Carvalho sit as chipleader with a stack of 9,750,000. At the other end was Chinese player Xiao Liu with a stack of just 1,000,000. All players here had already pocketed at least $22,900.
And it was Liu who was also the first player eliminated, thus finishing in 9th place. Original chipleader Manuel Carvalho didn't make it far either, his journey ended in 7th place with a $37,500 prize. Just before the final heads-up, Hungarian player Patrik Demus busted in the last 7 blinds. He couldn't multiply them and had to say goodbye to the tournament in 3rd place, which was worth $111,200.
After his elimination, Alexander Puchalski from Canada with a stack of 18,400,000 (37 bb) and Sagor Khorshad Alam from Bangladesh with a stack of 40,925,000 (82 bb) were facing against each other in the final heads-up. Heads-up play lasted almost 4 hours, after which Alexander Puchalski of Canada emerged as the winner. The latter won the APPT Cambodia back in 2022 at the same venue, from which he took home $96,028 at the time. Now, he has added $233,680 to his account along with the ticket. Sagor Alam added $150,000 as the runner-up.
Dominik Nitsche champion
A few days before WPT Prime Cambodia, the WPT Deepstack Turbo HR took place here with a buy-in of $3,000, which brought 57 entries and a prize pool of $154,812. The first prize bonus ($48,942) went to German professional Dominik Nitsche. He eliminated both of his opponents in the final three players and thus took the title for himself.
