Dan Smith wins second USPO title, Daniel Negreanu falls in heads-up play

Dan Smith wins second USPO title

Last time, we ended with a list of the advancers in Event #3, which was a $10,100 buy-in, 84-entry event with an $840,000 prizepool. The winner here was Dan Smith, for whom this is the second USPO title and fifth PGT title of his career. For this win, he made $235,200.

David Coleman notches another win this year

Event number four also had a buy-in of $10,100. However, the number of entries has now climbed to 83, bringing the prizepool to $830,000. Names like Jonathan Little, Phil Hellmuth and David Coleman made their way to the 7-seat final table here.

David Coleman got into heads-up play here with Shannon Shorr, with whom he had made a deal, and was left to play for $42,500 for the winner. The winner was Coleman, who won his fourth PGT title of the year and added $202,300.

Daniel Negreanu narrowly missed out

Daniel Negreanu has announced several changes after an unsuccessful year last year. These seem to be bearing fruit and he has already managed to win a couple of tournaments this year. Another win may have come during last night's Event #5, which again had a buy-in of $10,100. Here the entries counter stopped at 92 and the prizepool was worth $920,000.

There was $239,200 waiting for the winner here, and names like Erik Seidel, David Peters and the aforementioned Daniel Negreanu were battling it out for that amount at the 7-seat final table. However, neither of them took the top prize.

Erik Seidel finished just short of the final heads-up and Daniel Negreanu was unable to beat his opponent, Matthew Wantman, in heads-up play. Matthew took home the trophy and the full winner's prize, while Daniel had to settle for second place and $151,800.
