Daniel Negreanu vs. Doug Polk - two star names full of controversy who have been attacking each other on social media for years. The attentive reader certainly did not miss the High Stakes Feud, which was an online battle between the two gentlemen with $200/$400 blinds.
This battle took place on WSOP.com at the end of 2020 and lasted until February 2021. After 25,000 hands, one of the best heads-up players, Doug Polk, became the winner here, robbing Daniel of $1,201,807. After this fight, the eternal rivals became friends, ending their rift.
Tonight, they will face each other again, and now it will be in the second round of the fourth series of the High Stakes Duel show. In the first round, Daniel Negreanu and Eric Persson faced each other, and paid a $50,000 buy-in in May. The winner here then was Daniel Negreanu, and after Eric Persson refused a rematch, the chair was free for the opponent.
Since the buy-in doubles with each subsequent round, Doug Polk now has to pay a buy-in of $100,000, making his bankroll $200,000. According to the High Stakes Duel rules, if Negreanu wins this duel as well, he can withdraw from the game and take the money. However, if Polk wins, he must offer a rematch. If this pair meets in the third round, the player who lost in the second round must pay $200,000.
We have to mention that Daniel Negreanu has already participated in the High Stakes Duel 4 times and the win over Eric Persson was his first. In 2021, he faced Phil Hellmuth three times, but here Daniel finished in the minus $350,000.
The second round of the High Stakes Duel, between Daniel Negreanu and Doug Polk, will take place tonight, specifically on 25.8.2023 at 02:00 in the morning. You can watch it again exclusively on the PokerGO platform. Who do you think will be the winner?
