$50k NLH – 8 Handed
Last night in Monte Carlo brought a conclusion in the $50k NLH - 8 Handed tournament, which started on Tuesday with the first buy-ins. Finally, 90 players reached for the reentry option 46 times and thus created 136 entries. The prize pool of the tournament thus climbed to a beautiful $6,800,000, and a one and a half million reward awaited the winner.
The tournament reached the hand for hand phase very quickly after a series of several eliminations. Finally, Patrik Antonius became the bubble boy, who with A Q was not enough for Tsang's horses. After his elimination, each player was guaranteed $79,000.
Fourteen eliminations before the final table were not survived by players like Dan Smith, Ognyan Dimov or Jason Koon, who finished just before the final table. Nine finalists sat on it, led by Chris Brewer with a 55 blind stack.
Final nine:
Chris Brewer — 55 BBs
Pedro Garagnani — 35 BBs
Rodrigo Selouan — 30 BBs
Danny Tang — 29 BBs
Fahredin Mustafov — 28 BBs
Isaac Haxton — 23 BBs
Ole Schemion – 12 BBs
Thomas Muehloecker – 5 BBs
Daniel Rezaei — 1 BB
The first eliminated was Daniel Rezaei, who reached the final table with only one blind. His sixes weren't enough for Brewer's two pair, and he took home the first Triton cashout, worth $158,200. Ole Schemion didn't take home the title from this event either, when his AJo ran into Haxton's jacks.
Another player who ended up under the hand of Isaac Haxton was the Brazilian Rodrigo Selouan, whose jacks did not hold up in the fight against AKo. Several other games ended in pre-flop allins that nobody called. Finally, sixth place went to Thomas Muehloecker from Austria after he flopped all-in with a straight draw. Unfortunately for him, the straight didn't come and Tang robbed him of his last chips.
In the last five, the average stack was only 18 blinds, which predicted fast play. Pedro Garagnani sent KQs to Brewer's A9s and was not successful. He collected $469,000 for fifth place. Fourth-placed Chris Brewer missed out on a third title as he lost a large portion of his chips to Tang, who put the final nail in his coffin. For fourth place, Brewer took home $585,000.
Fahredin Mustafov is having a good time in Monte Carlo. He played three tournaments this week, in which he cashed three times and was on the final table twice. It was not a victory in this case either, because he was kicked out of the tournament by Tang. A patch for him can be a reward of $715,000.
Heads-up, Tang had a 2 to 1 chip advantage over Haxton. The final game of the night came fairly quickly. Tang limped with K J to which Haxton moved all in with Q 3 . Tang called easily and the board didn't bring help for Isaac Haxton, who took second place. Danny Tang thus claimed his fifth title this year and his first in the Triton Monte Carlo series. Congratulations!
