Italian player Simone Andrian is the new WSOPE 2024 Main Event champion
WSOP Europe has been taking place at the Rozvadov poker room until today, and before the end of the series, we still have one last champion to meet, and that's in the Main Event.
The Main Event was the second largest in WSOPE history, bringing in 768 entries. This turned the original €5,000,000 guarantee into a prizepool of €7,219,200, leaving the winner with a €1,300,000 prize. The top 6 players battled it out on the final day. They were led by Italian player Simone Andrian with a massive stack.

The course of the final day
All finalists had already pocketed at least €217,000 and this amount was eventually pocketed by Italian player Enrico Camosci, who entered the final with the smallest stack. The German player David Hochheim had the second smallest stack and he too ended up finishing as he started, in 5th place, for which he took home €297,000.
Fourth place went to Polish player Mariusz Golinski, who earned €415,000. Just ahead of the final heads-up, and thus in third place, was Israeli player Ran Ilani, who took home €590,000.
The long heads-up battle
Italian player Simone Andrian and Estonian player Urmo Velvelt took care of their opponents and sat together in the final heads-up. Urmo held the better position at the start of heads-up play (40M vs 36M), but it only took one hand for Simone to take the chiplead. Later on, however, Urmo regained the chip lead and gradually robbed the Italian player of his chips. At one point, Velvelt had a stack as high as 66M and Andrian only 11M.
Heads-up play lasted almost 3 hours and the Italian player managed to turn the game in his favour. Simone Andrian entered the fourth day of play among the smallest stacks and eventually made it to the final table as a massive chipleader. Although things didn't look rosy for him in heads-up play, in the end Simone Andrian emerged as the winner of the WSOPE 2024 Main Event, earning his second WSOP bracelet and a €1,300,000 prize to boot. This prize money brought his live tournament winnings to over $2.7 million. Urmo Velvelt earned €854,000 for his second place finish, bringing his live tournament winnings to over $1 million.
