Bratislava's Card Casino hosted an international partypoker Grand Prix event last week and it was a success. Thanks to 1,113 entries, the established guarantee fell short, and players ended up playing for a prizepool worth €542,590. The top 24 players played for the largest sums, led by a €120,000 prize awarded to the champion, during yesterday's final day, and you were able to follow their exploits via Live Stream:
After more than six hours of play, the group of 24 finalists was whittled down to the final nine, who sat at the last table with this chipcount:
- Alexandros Dimogiorgis - 14.050.000
- András Balogh - 9.480.000
- Charles La Boissonniere - 7.090.000
- János Péter Somogyi - 2.715.000
- Dillan Lee Bruce - 2.625.000
- Tomáš Chrobák - 2.600.000
- Jiří Stáňa - 2.090.000
- Ciprian Paunescu - 1.860.000
- Dennis Magro - 1.850.000
Several deal attempts failed to find a successful end, and so the players were eliminated according to a predetermined payout structure. The deal finally came together after Hungarian representative Andras Balogh (€47,000) busted out in third place when Alexandros Dimogiorgis negotiated a deal with Germany's Bruce Lee. The latter gave the two €92,000 and €93,000, with an extra €10,000, a trophy and the title still up for grabs.
The final hand went better for the Greek representative, who hit two pair on the flop with 9 2 , but it was in this hand that he managed to get all the chips from his opponent. The champion of this tournament was Alexandros Dimogiorgis of Greece, who took home a beautiful trophy, a valuable title and a €102,000 prize! Congratulations!
