The name Dominik Nitsche was in the spotlight recently when the professional player and coach was at the center of a scandal that unfolded during the final day of the WSOP Main Event. Dominik was in the rails of winner Jonathan Tamayo, giving him advice via his laptop, for which he received a wave of criticism from the poker community.
Now here is Dominik Nitsche again, but this time in a positive light. Over the course of two nights, he showed us all his qualities and managed to take second place in two tournaments, in two different formats.
First, we take a look at the GGMillion$ High Rollers tournament with a buy-in of $10,300 and a $1.5 million guarantee. The tournament brought 205 entries, bringing the prizepool to $2,050,000, with $414,471 awaiting the winner. There were a trio of German-speaking players sitting at the final table, namely "EEweedm99", Dominik Nitsche and Leonard Maue. While Leonard Maue finished in 8th place, "EEweedm99" was the winner, defeating Dominik Nitsche in heads-up play, which lasted just one single hand. The latter took home $319,601.
During the night, Dominik Nitsche sat at another final table, this time battling for the WSOP Online gold bracelet. Specifically, he played the PLO Championship with a $10,000 buy-in, 157 entries, and a prizepool of $1,522,900. A $317,941 prize awaited the winner here.
The final table also featured such names as Hungarian pro Andras Németh and the feared Finnish PLO specialist Eelis Parssinen. After Németh was eliminated in third place for almost $175,000, and entered the final table as chipleader, Dominik Nitsche was back in the final heads-up. Again, he was no match for his opponent and had to settle for second place. Although he failed to win a bracelet, he at least took home a cash prize of $235,860. These two tournaments alone added $555,461 to his bankroll.
