Not too long ago we brought you an article about Doug Polk's tough week, when first his plans to open a new club in Farmers Branch were turned down, and later his The Lodge Card Club reported an overlay of more than $400,000.
Now, however, the co-owner of The Lodge with his partners Brad Owen and Andrew Nee have announced the news on Twitter (X). They have become the owners of Rounders Card Club in San Antonio, the third largest city in Texas.
Renaming and remodeling
This poker room remains open with the new owners, but will undergo a name change to The Lodge Card Club San Antonio in the first phase, and will be enlarged later on. The club should bear the new name as early as July 3.

The Lodge Card Club is excited to announce we are taking over the largest poker room in San Antonio, @RoundersCard_SA, starting July 3!

Doug Polk said that he and his partners have also taken ownership of a vacant retail space adjacent to the club. So the plan is to expand the existing club to include this space as well, and increase it to 80 tables from the original 30 poker tables. This would make the club the largest poker room in Texas, surpassing even Doug's existing The Lodge Card Club in Round Rock, Austin.
The two The Lodge clubs will be just a 2-hour drive from each other, but the owners are not worried about the new club luring away players. Logde said that there will be a variety of welcome events for players when the new poker room opens. At the same time, Doug expects to eventually open a poker room in every major city in Texas, including Dallas.
