Article cover

The premiere stop of the EPT in Cyprus has officially started, and already from the first day it is clear that we have a lot to look forward to. The sunny coast and the luxurious Merit Royal Diamond casino are welcoming players from all over the world to their premises these days, who have already begun the battle for spade trophies.

The first trophy in the hands of Semionov

The opening event of the festival was a $10,200 event in the popular Mystery Bounty format, in which players produced a total of 102 entries. The nearly million dollar prize pool was divided half and half in the form of a standard payout structure and mystery envelopes. The winner of the tournament was the representative of Lithuania, Oleg Semionov, who also collected a reward of $127,900.

Eureka surpassed the first thousand

Traditionally, the Main Event of the EPT series is led by the cheaper Eureka with a $1,100 buy-in, which of course is also present in Cyprus. Yesterday brought the first two of the planned four flights, which together crossed the threshold of 1,000 entries. Classic flight 1A produced 717 entries, and subsequently the later flight 1B contributed 366 entries to the prize pool.

The field of players of this tournament gives us an idea that the world's top poker players found their way to great poker, from which many individuals managed to book their first progress. Among the 163 advancing from yesterday, we find such names as Vladas Tamasauskas, Lucien Cohen, Jason Wheeler, Dietrich Fast, Steve O'Dwyer and Jack Sinclair.

What awaits us

The program of the entire festival is packed, literally and figuratively, but today the focus will be mainly on two tournaments. The aforementioned Eureka will play its final 1C/1D flights today, but alongside it, the first of the High Rollers will also take place, this time it will be the NLH with a buy-in of $25,000.
