The EPT Barcelona Main Event, which brought a new record in the form of 2,294 entries and a prizepool of €11,125,900, is already behind us. The final day took place yesterday, where the 6 best poker players fighting for a prize of €1,714,000 were presented at the final table. Czech player Patrik Jaroš was leading the group with almost 15M.
Jimmy Guerrero (24.8M) and Giuliano Bendinelli (44M) made it to the final heads-up. Giuliano took care of some dramatic situations when he fell to the last one blind in six players and managed to get to the final heads-up as the chip leader.
In heads-up, the players agreed to a deal in which Bendinelli won €1,422,480 and Guerrero secured €1,250,337. The trophy and an extra €68,653 were still up for grabs for the winner.
The chips moved from one side to the other and the players exchanged the chip leadership position several times. After about 13 hours and 2.5 hours of heads-up play, we finally got to know the name of the new champion. He became Giuliano Bendinelli, who showed an incredible performance and managed to turn his last blind into a reward of €1,491,133 and win the title.
“I’m proud about how I played, but also, I won some showdowns, of course, to be here. I need luck, like the last hand with quads against full house, so it’s a mix between skill and luck. I’m grateful to be here.” Bendinelli said and added he couldn’t remember ever making a comeback from one big blind.
