The luxurious stop of the European Poker Tour Monte-Carlo has successfully kicked off its opening day, but now it is showering us with poker action and interesting news day after day. The opening event of the festival was a mini version of the main in the form of a €1,100 FPS, in which the participation showed the breaking of the record that we really got yesterday!
A strong pair of final flights yesterday definitively closed the numbers of this event, which conquered the previous record from last year by 11%! A total of 1,071 uniques with the contribution of 1,067 re-entries took care of rewriting the record level of 2,138 entries. This number means a €2,138,000 prize pool, which will be redistributed among all 321 advancing players, and the detailed payout structure will be published at the beginning of the day.
The names of those advancing were also supplemented by several well-known names of world poker, including the champion of the second edition of the PSPC in the Bahamas, Aliaksandr Shylko (54,000), the successful author and player Maria Konnikova (141,000), or the most recent EPT champion from Paris, Razvan Belea (357,000). The second game day is waiting for all the mentioned players today from 12:00, during which they will play hourly levels.
In addition to this event, the Mystery Bounty event, interesting for poker spectators, took place over the last two days, whose €10,200 price tag attracted the world's top players to the game. They took care of a total of 74 entries, which divided the fat prizepool into a classic payout structure and into mysterious envelopes with bounty rewards. The biggest prize was €50,000, which was won by Conor Beresford, who, together with other prizes and overall third place, cashed a skillful €127,650.
The only one who took more from this tournament was the British PS ambassador Sam Grafton, who, after the aforementioned Beresford, dealt with the Canadian Sam Greenwood in heads-up, for which he took home the trophy and €97,900. In addition to this amount, he also collected another €47,500 in bounty envelopes, so he can enjoy a cashout worth €145,400 and another tournament title!
