Eureka Hamburg with record numbers, €667,850 prizepool at stake

In addition to the main draw of the EPT, the live PS event circuit regularly offers smaller festivals consisting of the €1,100 Main Event, which these days is being played in northern Germany. Casino Schenefeld is in fact hosting the Eureka Hamburg festival, which is expected to be a record-breaker after a hiatus of more than 6 years!

The German port city has hosted the event three times in the past, from 2015-2017. The biggest edition so far was in 2015, when this tournament brought in 581 entries. In money terms, that meant a prizepool of €563,570, of which Tom Holke took the biggest cut (€107,920).

Current year

The long wait for the return of the franchise has obviously paid off, as the players made clear from the beginning of the festival. In fact, the popular €330 Cup took place before the main event, where an impressive 609 entries took care of the €173,565 prizepool. The biggest part of it (€23,310) went to Denmark after the 5-way deal, thanks to Brian Klindrup.

The main tournament then continued at the same pace, offering players three flights to invest the €1,100 buy-in. Each flight was played until the end of level 13 (40 minutes each), but this time cut the total number of entries from 703 to 170 title contenders. But they still have nothing to win, as prize money starting at €1,690 awaits the top 103 players. The champion of this event will take home €123,780.

The chipleader of Day 2 is Ercan Atmaca from the Netherlands, who wrapped up a stack worth 417,500 (167bb) at the end of yesterday's day. Perhaps the most resounding name in the field of Day 2 entrants is PS Ambassador Felix Schneiders, who will start the day from 16th place with a stack of 224,000 (90bb).

What's still to come

The Main Event will resume with Day 2 play today from 15:00, when play will start in the blinds at 1,000/2,500/2,500. While we're getting to know the final day's cast here, the two-day €2,200 buy-in High Roller will be taking place nearby. Fingers crossed for Day 2 participants and may the best player win!
