We certainly don't need to introduce any of our readers to popular series such as the Eureka Poker Tour or the UKIPT (UK and Ireland Poker Tour), which are long-standing stalwarts on the poker map. Along with these, there are other local series such as the Estrellas Poker Tour (ESPT), the Belgian Poker Challenge and the France Poker Series (FPS). We've brought you articles about all of these series many times.
From the new year with a new name
You won't see all of these aforementioned series anymore and from 2025 they will be held under the name Pokerstars Open. The very first stop will be the new poker room run by Pokerstars and it will be in Campione. Casino di Campione d'Italia will host this new series on the dates of March 10-16.
Circus Casino Resort in Namur, Belgium will host the Pokerstars Open on the dates of May 28 to June 9, replacing the Belgian Poker Challenge. Gran Madrid Casino Torrequebrada will also be the venue for the new series in Malaga, with dates from June 16 to 22.
One stop is yet to change its name and that is the Irish Open, which will traditionally be held at the Royal Dublin Society on the dates of April 10-21, 2025.
News on the list
The organisers also revealed two brand new stops to the Pokerstars Open series yesterday. The first will be from October 20-26 at Casino Manchester235 and the second will be in Cannes, France, specifically at Casino Barrière Cannes Le Croisette, where the series will take place on the dates of December 8-14. Yes, that's the exact date on which EPT Prague has been held each year.
All stops are expected to feature several dozen enticing tournaments, headlined by the Main Event, which will have a buy-in of €1,100 or £1,100 and a guarantee of €1,000,000/£1,000.
What's next for the EPT?
This is the latest information available directly from the organisers. We only know a few info about the EPT stops so far. EPT Barcelona and EPT Monte-Carlo are definitely coming in 2025. In Barcelona, the EPT will take place from August 18 to 31 and in Monaco from April 30 to May 10, 2025. EPT Paris was supposed to take place in February, but in the end the stop was cancelled. However, it is expected to take place but at a later date.
As for the EPT Cyprus stop, it is expected to be cancelled, and the question of whether EPT Prague will also take place in 2025 has not yet been answered by the organisers. However, as they have announced a new stop in Cannes on the same date as the series has been held in Prague each year, it's likely that we won't see EPT Prague again in 2025. This year's EPT Prague broke records once again, so maybe the organisers will decide to keep the stop after all, just to hold it on a different date.
