Pokerstars brought the UKIPT London series to the Hippodrome Casino, with the Main Event having a buy-in of £1,100. Thanks to 725 entries, the prizepool here eventually reached £696,000.
Yesterday saw the final day where the top 13 players battled it out for the £127,600 prize and the winner's trophy. Just outside the final table in 11th place with a prize of £9,500 was George Sandford, who you may also recognise as a commentator from our live streams.
UAE player Saigokul Kannan sat at the 9 seat final table as chipledaer with a stack of 4,660,000. In the end, however, he finished in fifth place with a prize of £33,600.
Going into the final heads-up match, the final day chipleader was Italy's Gaspare Sposato and Bulgaria's Atanas Pavlov. Gaspare's first tournament success came in 2021, but he has yet to score a win. Pavlov, on the other hand, is a professional player whose success began in 2017 and has more than $1.5 million worth of winnings to date.
Both players had agreed a deal and all that was left was to play for the trophy. That was eventually claimed by Gaspare Sposato, who in doing so achieved his first tournament win and added his biggest tournament prize of £107,660. Atanas Pavlov took home £99,340 for his second place finish after the deal.
