Britain's Grosvenor Casino Coventry has once again brought us The Goliath event, now in its 12th edition. The buy-in has varied over the years and currently stands at £160+£40 with an expected prizepool of £1.5 million.

The current edition runs from July 25 to August 4 and once again features 8 opening flights. The tournament has already completed half of the flights, and the very first flight brought in a whopping 1,488 entries. Flight 1B brought 1,428 entries, 1C brought 1,155 entries and yesterday's flight 1D boasted 1,029 entries. In total, the tournament now has 5,100 live entries, but online pre-entries will be added to that total. Organisers say the prizepool is already over £1 million.

There are already 415 players among the qualifiers and the current overall chipleader is Liam Hearne, who advanced from Fligh 1D. He has bagged up a stack of up to 1,170,000.

In yesterday's Flight 1D, we also witnessed an interesting hand that you don't see just anytime.

The strongest days are ahead of us and it looks like we might be able to break last year's record. Will the number of entries reach 12,000? We'll find out in just a few days.
