Macdonnel as a poker player

Irish poker pro Marc "14alonso14" Macdonnell, known for his impressive tournament track record, both online and in live events, with over $1.6 million in online winnings and $3.3 million in live tournaments, struck gold on September 18th. He hit the second-largest payday of his career by winning the PokerStars' The Deal jackpot. The biggest one is seven-figure, when he finished third in the 2018 PartyPoker Caribbean Poker Party Main Event.

Macdonnell participated in The Deal's progressive jackpot mini-game, making his way to the final jackpot round. The prize wheel featured eight segments, seven of which offered $1,000, and the eighth held the colossal jackpot, which stood at an astonishing $826,393.67 when Macdonnell gave it a spin.

The lucky spin

In a mere ten seconds after the spin of The Deal jackpot wheel, fate smiled upon Marc Macdonnell as it came to rest on the coveted jackpot segment. This stroke of fortune granted him precisely half of the jackpot sum, an impressive $413,196.83 – a staggering amount by any poker player's standards.

Macdonnell couldn't contain his excitement and promptly captured the winning spin on his mobile phone. As the reality of a windfall exceeding $400,000 dawned on him, his reaction was a simple yet expressive, "Oh my God! Oh my God!" It was a moment of pure joy and astonishment as he watched his PokerStars account swell with this remarkable windfall.

However, there's even more to the story. Any PokerStars players who had engaged in The Deal during the 12-hour period leading up to this extraordinary win were in for a surprise – they all received an equal portion of the remaining $413,196.83, spreading the excitement far and wide among the poker community.
