Article cover

On Tuesday, we brought you an article with an update on the health of Leon Tsoukernik, poker player and former owner of the Kings Resort in Rozvadov and Kings Casino Prague at the Prague Hilton Hotel. Since then, more news about his health has been published, so it's time to bring you up to date.

On the night of Monday to Tuesday, an ambulance was called to Leon's luxury mansion and found him in a serious state of health. This, necessitated an immediate airlift to the hospital. Leon was alleged to have been unprofessionally injected intravenously with the drug Propofol, which can only be administered by an anaesthesiologist. It is a short-acting hypnotic that is commonly used in hospital as a rapid-onset general anaesthetic. After its application, the patient is asleep within 30 seconds and therefore it is also used for insomnia problems.

"It is administered before surgical procedures, more complex diagnostic procedures or in patients in intensive care. Although it is a commonly used anaesthetic, in rare cases it can cause serious, life-threatening complications. The administration of the drug therefore belongs exclusively in the hands of specially trained medical professionals," said GP Ludmila Mazylkina. "If someone misuses the preparation, incorrect application can end in death, for example, heart failure," warns toxicologist Jaroslav Klán.

Due to its effects and the appearance of the white liquid, Propofol is often referred to as the "milk of forgetfulness". Michael Jackson died of an overdose of this drug on 25 June 2009. The police are currently investigating Leon's case on suspicion of committing a particularly serious crime of grievous bodily harm.

Current information

The first information about Leon's health condition was brought to us by Czech media, who contacted his friends. "He is in a really bad way, he ended up in a coma and we can only pray that he wakes up. It doesn't look good at all." Several of Leon's friends are said to have told the media that his hope of survival is more slim than good.

Subsequently, after 40 hours in a coma, doctors were supposed to try to revive Leon. This, they should have succeeded, and subsequently they will check for damage to his brain. However, coming out of the coma is only the first step, as the neurologist told Blesk.cz, Leon may not be able to perceive, speak, or even move. The question is to what extent his brain is or is not damaged. An MRI scan of his brain may give a clue as to how the situation will develop.

Police are currently waiting to see when Leon will be able to talk because they need his statement on the whole incident, which will be crucial to the investigation. When we have more information, we will be sure to bring you a new article.
