Maria Konnikova plays her first WSOPC tournament and wins a ring

Article cover

Popular book author and poker player Maria Konnikova already has several successes to her credit, although you won't find many first places there. A few days ago, however, she managed a stunt that the poker media loves to write about.

Maria has never played any of the WSOPC tournaments in which the winners take home valuable gold rings. But that changed a few days ago when she played one of the WSOPC Online tournaments, which was hosted on wsop.com and was only open to players in New Jersey and Nevada.

She was tempted by the WSOPC Online Main Event

Maria entered straight into the Main Event with a buy-in of $525 and a $200,000 guarantee. The tournament brought 504 entries and that's how the $252,000 prizepool was eventually distributed.

Waiting for the winner here was the aforementioned gold ring of champions, a $57,532 prize and a ticket to the WSOP Tournament of Champions, which will take place during the WSOP this summer. The winner of the event was Maria Konnikova, who took home the aforementioned prizes and managed to close out her first ever WSOPC tournament in such a beautiful fashion. Moreover, this win is the second highest on her poker resume so far. Congratulations!
