The Women's Winter Festival took place over the last few days at the Hippodrome Casino in London, where it also featured a £400 buy-in Main Event.
The Women's Winter Festival has become the biggest women's event outside of Las Vegas. Its Main Event brought in 271 entries, creating a prizepool worth £100,000. A trophy and a £20,000 prize awaited the winner.
Maria Lampropulos and Ann-Roos Callens were pitted against each other in the final heads-up here. Maria started here with a stack of 5,175,000 and Ann-Roos with a stack of 2,975,000. Heads-up play lasted about an hour, and although Ann-Roos was able to move most of the chips to her side, she was ultimately unable to emerge as the winner. Maria Lampropulos thus added another valuable victory to her rich poker resume, for which she took home a trophy and £20,000 to boot.
