WSOP Circuit Events are now underway in the USA, specifically at Horseshoe Tunica in Mississippi. Of particular interest to us today is tournament number six, which was the $400 buy-in NLH Monster Stack.
The NLH Monster Stack brought 571 entries and a prizepool worth $188,430, of which $34,711 awaited the winner. Thirty players advanced to the final table, led by Michael Mieszala.
Michael Mieszala eventually finished in third place with a $15,081 prize, and the final heads-up match was eighteen WSOPC ring owner Maurice Hawkins against Dylan Crawford. Before the start of the final day, Maurice was on the phone with his son, who told him that he had a dream about his father winning a lot of money.
His son must have predicted the future, because Maurice Hawkins won this tournament, which earned him $34,711 and an additional gold ring to go along with it. In his case, this is his 19th WSOPC gold ring, once again matching Ari Engel, who has 19 WSOPC rings as well.
- Maurice Hawkins - $34,711
- Dylan Crawford - $21,452
- Michael Mieszala - $15,081
- Michael Costello - $10,822
- Dave Alfa - $7,931
- Adam Henning - $5,939
- Connor Steinbrook - $4,545
- Charles Dawson - $3,558
- Anh Nguyen - $2,849
- James Hart - $2,336
Incredible Chase
In February this year, Maurice Hawkins won his 17th gold ring, a month later he won his 18th ring, tying Ari Engel's record. Sharing the top spot didn't last long though, as just a week later, Ari won his 19th WSOPC gold ring, in one of the online tournaments.
This left Ari alone at the top of the leaderboard once again. A month has passed and once again Ari has to share the top spot after Hawkins' win. Both now have 19 WSOPC gold rings, and neither is about to stop collecting. Maurice Hawkins has advanced in the Mystery Bounty event at WSOPC Tunica, and plans to play the Main Event as well. Can Maurice collect his 20th ring in the next few days? We'll find out soon enough.
