In 2010 and 2011, the North American Poker Tour (NAPT) took place in the USA and was organized by the online gaming house PS. The festival had 6 stops, before the well-known poker "Black Friday" arrived. It buried not only online poker in the USA, but also the NAPT festival.
The first NAPT event was the PS Caribbean Poker Adventure, which took place in January 2010. The $10,300 buy-in NAPT Main Event was won by Harrison Gimbel, who took home $2,200,000. The only person to win the NAPT Main Event twice was Vanessa Selbst, who won both times at the Mohegan Sun, Connecticut stop. In the first case, she turned a $5,000 buy-in into a $750,000 prize, and in the second case, she took home $450,000. Vanessa won her second win on April 13, 2011, just two days before the famous poker "Black Friday". That's when the NAPT streak ended for good.
But everything will change this year! After twelve long years, all poker fans are looking forward to the rebirth of the NAPT series. A week before the Formula 1 Grand Prix, NAPT Las Vegas will be held at Resorts World from November 4 to November 12.
The entire schedule has not been published yet, but the organizers presented us with at least a few highlights. We can look forward to the NAPT Las Vegas Main Event with a buy-in of $1,650, which will take place from November 6 - 11, the PS Cup with a buy-in of $550 will take place on November 9 - 12 and the High Roller will have a buy-in of $5,300 and will take place from November 10 - 12. If you feel that some big series should be held on these dates, then you are right - on this date, the WSOP Europe will also take place in the Rozvadov poker room.
"We are excited to announce the return of this iconic series and once again host the NAPT for poker players in North America. We are working hard to make this a spectacular series and can't wait to head to Las Vegas to get the show going" , said Steve Preiss, PS vice president for North America.
“We are thrilled to partner with PS as we celebrate the return of NAPT with the first stop at Resorts World Las Vegas. NAPT Las Vegas is sure to bring players from around the world and we look forward to welcoming them back to our world-class facility," said Leon Wheeler, director of poker operations at Resorts World Las Vegas.
Although the series is mainly aimed at players from the US, there will certainly be players from all over the world. The organizers thus promise a number of different online qualifications for this event.
What do you say about this rebirth? In your opinion, will the NAPT affect the events in the Rozvadov WSOP Europe, and thus attract fewer players, especially from the USA? Let us know in the comments on our social networks!
