Negreanu has passed the 50 million mark on HendonMob, but how much of that is net winnings?

Article cover

One of the most famous poker ambassadors in the world, Daniel Negreanu, has been among the top players in the world for more than a quarter of a century. During his rich career, Daniel managed to achieve perhaps all possible poker successes, which gradually accumulated until they reached this moment. On January 18 of this year, thanks to the third place in the seventh event of the PokerGo Cup, Daniel surpassed the 50 million mark in live tournament cashouts.

Thanks to this, he secured third place on the worldwide all-time money list, where only Bryn Kenney ($57,221,856) and Justin Bonomo ($58,954,124) are ahead of him. Daniel has many achievements to his credit, of which two WSOP Player of the Year titles, fourteen 7-figure wins, one WSOPC ring, six WSOP bracelets and a WPT Main Event title are worth mentioning.

As many of you probably know, the HendonMob database counts players' winnings, but does not deduct buy-ins, nor does it record tournaments in which players paid a buy-in but did not get to the ITM. And on top of it all, we're not even talking about the fact that in the most expensive tournaments it doesn't take swaps or sold percentages into consideration, which is why the final amounts on HendonMobe can be (and usually are) far from reality.

Nevertheless, Daniel pleased the fans when, thanks to the annual evaluation of the year, he gives an insight into what his real numbers look like. For the past 11 years, at the end of each year, Daniel has come up with a total statement, where he has shown that since 2013 his net profit is $13,137,263 (but it also does not include taxes, sold percentages or swaps).

According to these "confessions", the editors of PokerNews started an approximate calculation of the amount that would show the real numbers of net winnings. According to the key from the mentioned 13 million, the editors also proceeded in previous years and their estimate stopped at the level of 18-22 million dollars in net for the entire career. Daniel himself does not know the specific number, as he did not pay attention to detailed numbers more than 20 years ago, but as he said, this estimate seems very likely to him.

Even considering that Bonomo and Kenney surpassed Daniel in the total number of wins, he still has one championship - the number of cashouts. Since the first recorded cashout in 1997, Daniel has 437 cashouts to his name, which is by far the most among the entire top ten of the global all-time money list:

In Daniel's favor is the fact that high roller tournaments were not nearly as widespread many years ago, thanks to which today the best players can play monthly for massive prizepools in small player fields. What do you say, are you one of Daniel's fans and do you think he is the best player of the 21st century? And how about the HendonMob database and their score logging key? Let us know in the comments!
