The WPT Prime Series brought us a stop in Cyprus, taking place at the Chamada Prestige Hotel and Casino, where the $1,100 buy-in, $1,000,000 Championship event was the main attraction. The guarantee was smashed thanks to 1,391 entries, which meant a prizepool of $1,349,270.

A $190,430 prize and a $10,400 ticket to December's WPT World Championship awaited the winner. The top 9 players advanced to the final table and were led by Atilla Saracoglu with a stack of 13,025,000. At the other end was Hungarian player Andras Balogh with just a 5-blind stack.

The progress of the final table

Although Balogh had the smallest stack, he wasn't the first player eliminated. Israeli player Ilan Verdnikov finished the tournament in 9th place, followed by Baris Topuz and Sencer Ozturk. The Hungarian player skipped a pair of payjumps to take the final 6th place, which was worth $40,000.

Edgars Hauks also said goodbye to the tournament, followed by Swiss player Fabian Rolli, who cashed for $70,000. Third place went to Joseph Haddad, after which we met the final pair.

The final heads-up match was between original chipleader Atilla Saracoglu and Omar Lakhdari. However, it was now Omar who was the chipleader with a stack worth 96 blinds, and Atilla had a 43 blind stack. Heads-up play lasted just under 50 minutes, after which Omar Lakhdari was the winner. He took home the trophy, ticket and $190,430 in prize money.
