Article cover

The PokerGO Cup is currently underway at the PokerGO Studio in Las Vegas, kicking off on February 11 and running until February 20, 2025. During that time, it will feature 8 tournaments with buy-ins ranging from $5,100 to $25,200, and all of them will be in NLH format.

The first tournament is already past us and it has become the biggest PGT tournament with a buy-in of $5,100, thanks to 177 entries, which broke the previous record of 131 entries. This brought the prizepool to $850,000, with $185,850 awaiting the winner. As is customary in PGT tournaments, players collect points towards the overall leaderboard.

Names like Erik Seidel, Alex Foxen, Ren Lin, Jessica Vierling and Joao Simao were not missing in the field. However, none of them were among the 7 finalists. They were led by Michael Moncek, who held nearly 40 percent of all the chips in play. He didn't let his chances of success get away from him and in the final heads-up he handled his last opponent, Joey Weissman easily. Moncek took home his first PGT title and a full winner's bounty. Joey Weissman had to settle for $123,900.

Once again, only 7 players could make it to the final table and just before the final table, in 8th place, was Austrian player Manuel Fritz, who had been the chipleader for a long time. Leading the finalists is Sam Laskowitz with a stack of 3,725,000.
