The Rozvadov poker room has once again welcomed WSOP Europe, and it will run until October 9. During this time, it will hand out 15 gold bracelets and more than 15 million euros in guarantees. The very first tournament can be considered a success by the organizers.
The first tournament was the WSOPE Opener with a buy-in of €350 and a guarantee of €1,000,000. Although it initially looked like it would be a challenge to fill the guarantee, the prizepool eventually reached €1,039,014 thanks to 3,509 entries, leaving a €105,000 prize waiting for the winner. A ticket to the WSOPE Main Event worth €10,350 was also waiting for the top 12 players.
20 players entered the final day and the chipleader was German player Dmitry Fadeev with a stack of 7,985,000. Among the top 9 players, i.e. at the final table, the chipleader was already German player Daniel Trunk, who had a stack of up to 16,900,000.
The first player to be eliminated from the final table was Hungarian player Jozsef Dobos, who took home €9,057 for his 9th place finish. All final table participants had already bagged a ticket to the WSOPE Main Event.
The final heads-up match pitted Polish player Przemyslaw Szymanski and German player Daniel Trunk against each other. The players had nearly identical stacks, with Trunk having slightly more.
That quickly changed, however, and Szymanski became a huge chipleader when he held a stack of up to 62,000,000 against Trunk with a stack of just 8,100,000. What Przemyslaw Szymanski started, he finished, and after hitting two pair on the last hand, he eventually emerged as the winner. The win earned him his first WSOP bracelet and a €105,000 prize to go with it. Daniel Trunk took home €69,800 for his second place finish.
