The Triton Million took place at the WSOP Paradise in the Bahamas, which featured a $525,000 buy-in tournament, and the pro was only able to get in thanks to an invitation from a businessman.
A total of 96 entries brought the prizepool to $48,000,000. Cash prizes were up for grabs for 17 players, and the winner had the Triton Trophy, a WSOP bracelet and $12,070,000 awaiting him.
The final day
There were 14 players battling it out in yesterday's final table, with Michael Moncek leading the way. After less than two hours of play, play moved to the final table where Daniel Dvoress was the chipleader after eliminating Stephen Chidwick (14th - $792,000), David Einhorn (13th - $865,000), Esti Wang (12th - $865,000), Adrian Mateos (11th - $985,000), and Chance Kornuth (10th - $985,000).
The first eliminated at the final table was the original chipleader of both Day 1 and Day 2, Michael Moncek, who took home $1,200,000 for 9th place. Final table chipleader Daniel Dvoress couldn't take advantage of the position either and had to settle for 4th place and a $4,390,000 prize.
Dvoress was eliminated by Alejandro Lococo, who also made it to the final heads-up. Alejandro started here with a stack as high as 84,000,000 (84bb) and sitting opposite him was Ben Heath with a stack of 12,000,000 (12bb).
The heads-up battle lasted only about 30 minutes, after which Argentine rapper Alejandro Lococo became the new Triton champion and also the new WSOP champion. It was Alejandro's first Triton tournament, and he immediately took home both the trophy and his first WSOP bracelet. On top of all that, he also pocketed a handsome $12,070,000.
"I'm a rapper. I don't study the game. I just try to do the best in every single hand. It's amazing, like (I'm) dreaming. I knew that in some moment of my life, it was going to come, my bracelet. I was feeling really (good) with my game.Probably if I play like 200 times with these guys, they're going to find (an) amazing strategy (against me). But lucky for me, I beat them in my first Triton," Lococo said in an interview after the win.
