Round two: Doug Polk made a bet for $200,000 with Bill Perkins again, can he lose 50% fat?

Article cover

Fitness betting has been a trend in poker circles in recent years. First we had Doug Polk's bet with Bill Perkins, where Doug had to reduce his body fat by 50%. So he had to go from the original 27.7% to a figure of 13.85% in 365 days. At the end of the bet, however, Doug had a body fat percentage of 15.1% and so lost $200,000.

In 2023, we saw another fitness bet and it was between Bill Perkins and Shaun Deeb. Shaun Deeb had 14 months to get his fat level down to 17%. Shaun put $100,000 into this bet and if he met the criteris of the the challenge he would earn $1,000,000. Three months before the end of the bet, Deeb was already 22% fat, up from the original over 40%, so Bill Perkins decided to buy himself out for the sum of $800,000.

The old fitness bet

The current bet between Doug Polk and Bill Perkins is very similar to the first one. Doug Polk needs to reduce his body fat percentage by 50%, which now means to get from 22% to 11%. In the first bet, however, Doug had up to a year to meet the requirement, now he will have only six months. So we will find out in October whether Doug Polk will win back his $200,000 or lose a total of up to $400,000.

How is Doug going to win this bet? He told Pokernews that he got off to a very slow start last time, and that's why he didn't get to the number he wanted. In the current challenge, he wants to stick to a similar plan as last time, he wants to take in around 1,800 calories a day and exercise five days a week.

What do you guys think? Will Doug be able to reach 11% body fat in six months, or will Bill Perkins make another $200,000? Let us know in the comments on our social media.
