Every poker enthusiast is sure to have their heart pounding when they look at the four letters of the WSOP. The world series in poker, which has been writing its history for more than half a century, is rightly considered the most prestigious and best series in the world, which it regularly proves by breaking its records. What will this year bring?
The 53rd edition of the most prestigious poker series in the world will take place this year from May 31 to July 20, when 88 gold bracelets will be played for. The historic moment this year will be the relocation of the entire series, which has taken place every year at Rio Casino since the move from its origin of Binion´s. After many years, WSOP events will be split between Bally's (which will soon be renamed Horseshoe) and Paris - together the two casinos will offer more than 600 poker tables.
The main competition of the event, the $10,000 Main Event, kicks off on July 3 and the journey to the coronation of the new champion will last until July 16. Last year, despite travel restrictions and the obligation to wear facemaskas or to have vaccinations, the year produced 6,650 entries and a $62,011,250 prize pool. As this year proudly announces the lifting of all covid restrictions, we can expect much higher numbers - will it manage to beat the record 8,773 entries from 2006?
Among the news and interesting highlights of the festival will be, in addition to a number of online events, the return of the tournament of champions, a number of High Rollers with massive buy-ins, or the most prestigious format of today - Mystery Bounty. The $1,000 tournament guarantees one player a massive million-dollar bounty, so he'll have something to look at again!
The series kicked off yesterday with the traditional opening $500 Casino Employees event, which only casino employees can attend. Alongside him, the first day of the $100,000 High Roller took place, and the staff announced that the WSOP would be strong this year. Out of 43 players, the final 15 of them formed by the end of the day, containing such names as David Peters, Koray Aldemir, Ali Imsirovic, Dario Sammartino, Erik Seidel or Phil Ivey!
