The London stop of the lucrative Triton series writes interesting stories day after day, among which you could see titles for Espen Jorstad, Fedor Holz, record eighth triumph for Jason Koon, or Bryn Kenney's recent astronomical win, which returned him to the position of world number one in the all- time money list.
The action-packed festival continued yesterday, where the second day of the $125k Main Event took place in front of the cameras, but alongside it there was also a one-day $60k Turbo event. In it, 47 players took care of 61 entries, and thanks to them, a prizepool of $3,660,000. It was divided among the top 11 players, who first left Henrik Hecklen and then Santhosh Suvarna, thanks to which we got to know the final nine.
Final table chip count:
- Phil Ivey — 41 BBs
- Biao Ding — 27 BBs
- Rodrigo Selouan — 26 BBs
- Wai Kin Yong — 25 BBs
- Cary Katz — 22 BBs
- Nick Petrangelo — 21 BBs
- Tan Xuan — 18 BBs
- Aleks Ponakovs — 17 BBs
- Luc Greenwood — 5 BBs
Unstoppable Ivey went through not only the entire tournament, but also this table like a knife through butter, and after a 3-out elimination of Nick Petrangelo in third place, he carried a 47bb to 14bb advantage into the heads-up with Cary Katz. Ivey was on fire and Katz found out pretty quick that he had no chance against him.
The chips gradually moved towards Ivey, but the last hand was just a cherry on top of his brutal run. Katz sent his last 10bb into play with A K and did very well against Ivey's Q 7. But that changed immediately on the flop, where the dealer lit up two queens and definitively awarded Ivey his fourth title and the full prize of $1,007,000.
Despite his many successes, Ivey remains the person we all know him to be – quiet, humble and fully focused. “I love the Triton series and I'm always happy to win. I will continue to play until the end of the festival, but then I will probably wait at home for another Triton." Ivey already won 8.5 million dollars in this series, but his lifetime winnings already crossed the 40 million mark. Do you also think he deserves the title of G.O.A.T.?
