Longest continuous poker game
Professional poker player Phil Laak has broken the record for the longest continuous poker game. He played 115 hours of continuous play in $10/20 No Limit Texas Hold'em from June 2 to June 7, 2010 at the Bellagio Casino in Las Vegas. Laak broke the previous record of 78 hours and 25 minutes held by Paul Zimbler.
After an incredible 115 hours of play, he ended up with approximately $6,766 in winnings, all of which he donated to Camp Sunshine, a charity that allows children with medical conditions to attend camps as healthy children. He increased his contribution to the charity considerably thanks to donations from other players and smaller challenges. After two and a half days of playing, for example, he completed the challenge to do 30 push-ups, raising an additional $1,000 for the charity.
Youngest WSOP bracelet winner
The youngest WSOP Main Event winner was American Joe Cada in 2009 at the age of 21 years and 11 months. In doing so, he broke the record set just a year earlier by Peter Eastgate at the age of 22.
While Peter Eastgate retired from professional poker just two years after his success, Joe Cada has won three more WSOP bracelets and is among the top 100 players in the list of players with the most cashouts in live tournaments. Prior to this two, Phil Hellmuth held the record for nearly two decades, winning as a 24-year-old in 1989.
Oldest WSOP bracelet winner
Farhintaj Bonyadi proved in 2008 that the pinnacle of poker can come at any time when she won her first and, for now, last WSOP bracelet at the age of 83. In doing so, she also set a new record for the oldest bracelet winner in WSOP history.
Interestingly, Farhintaj secured the buy-in to the $1,000 Super Seniors No Limit Hold'em event with her son Farzad Bonyadi, who has already won four WSOP bracelets himself. His mother's win makes them the first mother-son duo to own WSOP bracelets.
The previous record was held by Johnny Moss, known as "The Grand Old Man of Poker". The first ever WSOP Main Event winner won his last bracelet in 1988 at the age of 81.
The biggest online poker tournament
On October 5, 2015, PS entered the Guinness Book of World Records by hosting the largest online poker tournament. In total, a whopping 253,692 players entered the Common Cents Kick-Off, lured by a guaranteed prizepool of $100,000 with a buy-in of just 1 cent.
After 470 hands and 6 and a half hours of turbo format play, the winner was an Austrian player nicknamed "DaDumon" who took home the $10,000 top prize. The previous record was also held by PS, which held a $1 buy-in tournament in 2013 with a guaranteed prize pool of $300,000 and 225,000 players.
Most online poker tables played in an hour
French player Bertrand 'ElkY' Grospellier set a record in 2009 for the most online poker tables played in one hour. He managed to set the record by playing on 62 tables simultaneously for one hour.
These records show how diverse and fascinating the poker environment can be. Whether it's massive online tournaments, endurance feats or unusual experiments, poker can still surprise. In the following part of this article, we'll take a closer look at the most interesting of these.
