Global Poker Awards - the awards, which are compared to the imaginary Oscars in the poker world, are back, and the third year will bring its gala evening in a few days. Specifically, on Friday, February 18, the World Poker elite will meet at the PokerGO studio in Las Vegas, where it will present 18 awards in various fields.
Compared to last year, this number is little bit smaller, as in March 2020 they managed to present 25 awards, which were handed over to individuals by the charming Maria Ho. Names such as Lex Veldhuis, Matt Savage, Nick Schulman, Johnny Chan, Jonathan Little, Alex Foxxen and Kristen Bicknell gradually took turns at her hands.
However, this year does not lag behind in quality and stellar staff, where well-known and lesser-known names fight for titles in categories such as industry personality, best podcaster, twitter personality, best event, most beautiful trophy, breakout player of the year, final table performance or player choice for the toughest opponent. In each category we know the names of four nominees, from whom it is sometimes very difficult to choose a clear winner.
During the gala evening, the best male and female player of the year according to the GPI year will also be awarded, where the name of the male player will probably not surprise anyone. Ali Imsirovic, a young talent who quickly and fearfully became the fear of the best players in the world and who has already credited dozens of tournament wins, became the best player. Nadya Magnus, will dethrone Kirsten Bicknell after her two consecutive wins in the female category.
Take a look now with us at the list of nominees in each category and let us know in the comments who you would most like to see with the award in their hands!
