It's almost unbelievable, but time is moving forward and even strongly Islamic countries like the United Arab Emirates have understood that a casino can attract a lot of tourists. And so here we have news. The UAE has decided to change its laws prohibiting gambling and to model them after the laws of the USA or Singapore. New taxes and licenses will also be adapted to this.

Wynn Al Marjan Island will be located in Ras Al Khaimah and its construction is already in full swing. It is to welcome its first clients at the beginning of 2027. The resort will offer the first casino with an area of 18,500 m2, making it one of the largest casinos in the world. While the casino will occupy only 4 percent of the total area of the resort. There will also be 24 restaurants, 1,500 luxury accommodation units (hotel rooms, apartments and villas), a theater, a congress hall, modern spas and wellness, a luxurious shopping promenade and beautiful beaches.

The entire island will have an area of 250,000 m2 and the total construction of the new resort will cost an incredible 3.9 billion dollars, which is 1.2 billion more than the cost of Wynn in Las Vegas. The tower of the hotel will be 305 meters high and there will be a laser and light show every evening.

However, Wynn will not be building this whole show by himself. They teamed up with domestic companies Marjan LLC and RAK Hospitality Holding LLC, creating a partnership that allows this resort to grow on a total of 4 artificial islands. Wynn Al Marjan will be only 45 minutes from Dubai.

Craig Billings, CEO of Wynn Resorts commented on the project: “We have spent the past year planning and conceptualizing Wynn Al Marjan Island in detail, carefully considering its unique location. I am incredibly proud of our design and development team's ability to deliver our legacy of rich and thoughtful design into a sun-drenched beach resort that will delight new and old customers alike. We look forward to opening Wynn Al Marjan Island in early 2027."

If the casino resort in Ras Al Khaimah proves to be the right move and attracts many new tourists, other emirates are expected to relax their gambling laws. This would certainly also please companies such as Caesars Entertainment or MGM Resorts International, which build hotels in the United Arab Emirates. However, their hotels do not have casinos in these areas.
