World Series of Poker - four words that give chills to almost every poker player in the world. The legendary series has been beating its own records for more than half a century, but after a corona-forced break, it returned in full force last year. The result was the largest festival in history, both in terms of total entries (197,626) and total prize pool ($347,941,800).
As respectable as these numbers are, one record was not broken last year. Yes, we are talking about the Main Event itself, which still holds the record for the number of entries from 2006, when Jamie Gold became the champion. However, the approaching 54th edition unequivocally announces that it wants to break all previous records, while it already broke one before the very beginning.
We are talking about the number of bracelet events, which was already 88 last year. But this number will be surpassed this year, because there will be a total of 95 valuable jewels in the game, to which another 34 bracelets will be added during the WSOP online version. Plans for this year's WSOP Europe have yet to be announced, and that means even 129 bracelets isn't the final number that will be up for grabs on various fronts this year.
"Given the momentum and atmosphere brought by last year's premiere WSOP on Stripe, we expect a record-breaking WSOP this year," says WSOP Executive Director Ty Stewart. "If your dream is to play a WSOP Main Event at some point in your life, this is the year to make that dream come true!"
The Main Event will take place this year from July 3 to 17, and in order to beat the historical record, the organizers came up with the idea of "Main Event Mania". Part of this promotion will be qualifications for at least 600 entries to the GG, supplemented by another 112 seats at the online American WSOP casino. Part of the qualifications will also be the "Global Qualification Weekend", during which the qualifications for the ME will take place on May 20-21 in casinos and clubs around the world. Entry into them will be set at $1.175, to which the $140 step 1 will still lead.
If the main event will finally manage to beat the desired record, which was missed last year by only 110 entries, the organizers have prepared a truly unique celebration. On Saturday, July 8, they will celebrate this milestone with a draw, when they will draw one lucky person from among all Main Event participants, who will receive free entry to the Main Event every year for the next 30 years! What do you think, will the expectations be fulfilled and the historical goal will finally fall?
