European Poker Tour - perhaps there is no one among the domestic poker players who does not know these three words. On the old continent, this series has quickly become the largest and most prestigious by far, but it has become even closer to our audience thanks to a regular pre-Christmas stop in Prague.
It was Prague in December 2019 that became the scene of the last EPT, but at that time, perhaps no one, including Main Event champion Mikalai Pobala, knew that it would be the last EPT for a very long time. The endless period of darkness caused by the global pandemic has tried to cut through at least the EPT Open in Sochi, Russia, or the online version of the festival, but none of this has approached the real EPT in spirit or emotion.
The two-year waiting received a glimmer of hope at the end of September, when the return of the EPT was announced in the true sense of the word, which, moreover, was to symbolically start again from Prague. From December 8 to 19, players were supposed to compete in 59 different events, including the lucrative High Rollers, the popular EPT National and the spectacular Main Event.
All this was supposed to take place in a few days at King's Casino Prague, but due to the pandemic situation in Czech Republic these plans had to be abandoned. Currently, the Czech Republic is obliged to close night operations between 22:00 and 5:00 and cultural events are limited to 1,000 participants, and it is highly probable that these measures will be even stricter in the near future.
In view of all this, a decision was made that postpones the grand return of the EPT for this time as well. "Due to the measures currently in force in the Czech Republic, we have, unfortunately, been forced to relocate the EPT stop in Prague. We understand that this is a great disappointment for all players, but unfortunately, we have to comply with the regulations in force.” The alternative date of the event, or the schedule of other stops for next year has not yet been published, do you think that we will see the return of EPT in 2022?
