The Triton series has once again written a beautiful story. It was born in yesterday's final day of the $40k NLH 7-Handed Mystery Bounty event with 151 entries and a prizepool of $6,040,000 ($3,020,000 of which is in bounty envelopes). There was $669,000 waiting for the winner, and players also opened mystery envelopes to knock out their opponents.
47 players advanced to the final day yesterday, but only 27 of them were able to take home the prize money. The smallest one was worth $30,000.
Afinal table full of familiar names
As is customary at Triton, the final tables here are made up of some of the best players from around the world. This particular one included names like Stephen Chidwick, Chris Moneymaker, Dylan Linde, Danny Tang and Daniel Rezaei. The chipleader of the table, however, was someone else, namely Russian player Nikita Kuznetsov. At the other end was Danny Tang with a stack of just 9 blinds.
Danny wasn't the first player eliminated, however. The 8th place finisher was Stephen Chidwick, who lost his A-J to Chris Moneymaker's J-J. Stephen thus pocketed $82,000. He was followed to the cashier by Danny Tang, who took home $114,000 for 7th place.
Daniel Rezaei ($156,000), Dylan Linde ($202,000) and Nikita Kuznetsov ($253,000) also took to the cash in succession. In the last trio of players, Triton series newcomer Artsiom Lasouski made it to the mega chiplead when he held a stack as high as 60bb, while Samuel Ju had 5bb and Chris Moneymaker had 10bb. It didn't take long for Chris Moneymaker to hear his seat open and he lost his J-3 to Samuel Ju's K-10. This earned Moneymaker $311,000 for his third place finish.
Final heads-up
That left Artsiom Lasouski (55bb) and Samuel Ju (20bb) facing each other in the final heads-up. For Lasouski, it was his first Triton Festival and the third tournament he has played at Triton Montenegro. He finished the first two without an ITM placement and now he had a chance to win a straight title. Samuel Ju has played several Triton stops, but this was his first final table.
Although Samuel Ju was able to slowly chip-skim his opponent, and the stacks were almost even at one point, he ultimately couldn't beat Artsiom. Thus, Triton series newcomer Artsiom Lasouski, 25, managed to beat all of his opponents to become the new champion. He took home a trophy and a prize of $669,000. However, he also has 12 bounty chips, which he will turn into additional prize money tomorrow. So far, Artsiom has had live tournament winnings totaling $102,560 on his hendonmob.
The top bounty in the mystery envelopes is worth $400,000 and the two lower ones are worth $200,000. Artsiom can thus earn hundreds of thousands of dollars more. Samuel Ju took home $452,000 for his second place finish and will also open a bounty envelope tomorrow. Congratulations!
