Triton: Phil Ivey up 1.8 million, Vaskaboinikau the Main Event champion

The first of two Main Events and one of the most expensive tournaments of the entire Triton Montenegro series already knows its champion. It was the $132,500 buy-in NLH Main Event, with 171 entries and a prize pool of $21,375,000. A Jacob & Co luxury watch, a trophy and a $4,737,000 prize awaited the winner.

Final Table Action

Elizabeth Chen was the first female representative to be eliminated from the final table, taking home $478,000 for her 9th place finish. She was followed by Bryn Kenney, Wai Kin Yong, Samuel Ju and Igor Yaroshevskyy.

The legendary Phil Ivey also made it to the last four players, but he couldn't make it any further. He was rewarded with $1,795,000 for his fourth place finish. He was followed to the cash desk by Alexey Ponakovs, who finished in third place.

Belarusian player Mikalai Vaskaboinikau started heads-up play as chipleader with a stack of 44bb and home player Dejan Kaladjurdjevic with a stack of 9bb. The latter became the first player from Montenegro to play Triton. Dejan played 5 tournaments and only in this one he made it to the ITM for the first time.

The heads-up duel lasted only two hands, after which it was decided. Mikalai Vaskaboinikau became the Triton champion for the first time and earned a prize of $4,737,000. Dejan Kaladjurdjevic finished in second place with a prize of $3,196,000.

Today the final of the most expensive tournament

The most expensive tournament of the entire series is the number 11 tournament, which is the 200K NLH 8-Handed with a buy-in of $212,000. However, if a player buys re-entry, the buy-in is $208,000. Late registration is open here until the start of Day 2, which is scheduled for today at 1pm. Currently the entries counter is at number 84 and so the prizepool is already over $16 million.

Forty-two players have made it through to Day 2 and they are led by Mike Watson with a stack of 978,000.
