There is no shortage of good stories even at the subsidiary series WSOP with the subtitle Circuit, where instead of valuable bracelets, championship rings are given out. In April of this year, we already wrote about how Josh Reichard equaled the all-time record of Maurice Hawkins, when he increased the number of his rings to 14. This record did not last long, Hawkins soon won his 15th ring and consolidated his first place.
But Hawkins is no longer alone on the throne, but this time it is not Josh Reichard with whom he has to share the championship. The name of the new (half) world number one is Ari Engel, who rose to the top of the rankings in style. He won his 13th ring less than a month ago, and this week he added two more, which he managed to win within 24 hours!
He managed to win the first in the $400 H.O.R.S.E. event, where the field consisted of only 60 entries. The winnings in this case, in addition to the 14th ring, also amounted to $6,647. Right after winning this title, Engel jumped into the $400 PLO event, and beat everybody here as well, which meant another $6,564 and a record 15th ring for him!
Engel himself won his first ring back in 2007, when he took home a record $63,018 from the $300 event. Since then, he has won a respectable $8.3 million in live tournaments, including the aforementioned 15 rings. In addition to these, he also has the Aussie Million Main Event title from 2016 ($1,120,110) and two WSOP bracelets.
