Coming up in March, the first stop of the new Pokerstars Open series will take place in Campione. This will also kick off the collection of points for the new PokerStars Live League Rankings that the brand has launched. Anyone who participates in the Pokerstars Open, EPT or Irish Poker Open will have a chance to win.
There will be three different leaderboards on offer, split by buy-in, and it doesn't matter if you're a pro playing High Roller tournaments or as recreational player. The first leaderboard will include buy-ins from $5,000/€/£ and up, the second leaderboard will consider buy-ins between $1,000 and $4,999/€/£ and the third will consist of buy-ins of $999/€/£ and below.
And what do the winners get?
Low buy-in level (€999/£/$ or lower)
- 1st Place: 10 buy-ins to the PS Open Main Event & 10 buy-ins to the PS Open Cup (totaling €15,000)
- 2nd Place: 10 PS Open Cup buy-ins (totaling €4,000)
- 3rd place: 5 buy-ins to the PS Open Cup (total amount €2.000)
Medium buy-in level (€1,000/£/$ to €4,999/£/$)
- 1st Place: 4 EPT Main Event buy-ins and 4 PS Open Main Event buy-ins (totaling €25,600)
- 2nd place: 6 PS Open Main Event buy-ins (totaling €6,600)
- 3rd place: 3 PS Open Main Event buy-ins (totaling €3,300)
High buy-in level (€/£/$5,000 and above)
- 1st Place: 4 EPT Main Event & 4 EPT High Roller buy-ins (totaling €62,400)
- 2nd Place: 4 EPT Main Event buy-ins (totaling €21,200)
- 3rd Place: 2 EPT Main Event buy-ins (totaling €10,600)
How do you earn points?
All players will earn points according to ITM placement, and if you don't make the ITM you will still earn points, which will be worth 20 percent of the mincash points. The points system is based on a similar principle to the one used by the Global Poker Index. You can track your progress and score via the Pokerstars Live app.
Ten players from each leaderboard, for a total of 30 players, will earn the opportunity to become a PokerStars Team Pro for one year. These players will meet at an audition where one of them will receive a €100,000 sponsorship deal. This will allow them to travel the world with the best players and have the chance to play the biggest tournaments. All the while, the chosen one will be adorned with the iconic Team Pro logo patch.
