Until recently, the WPT series was mainly a US domain, but thanks to its activities and various sub-series, it has quickly made a name for itself around the world. A few days ago, we informed you that this year the WPT will bring the largest guarantee ever, but before we get to Vegas, another record awaits us here in Europe.
The global WPT Prime series, which with a buy-in of €1,100 reminds many of the popular Eureka/Estrellas, started yesterday at the Grand Casino Liechtenstein, where it brought its biggest million guarantee so far. To conquer it, a thousand entries will be needed, but that shouldn't be a problem - in February of this year, WPT Prime Australia produced 1,224 entries, and the record is still held by August's WPT Taiwan with 1,359 entries.
We will find out whether these records will be broken in the heart of Europe in the coming days, and the six opening days will have to take care of that. They will take place until Saturday, where the 1,100 CHF buy-in in can be exchanged for a 30,000 starting stack and with that, they can then try to earn a place among the top 12.5% of the field.
List of flights:
- Day 1B – Thursday 7.9. at 12:00 (40 min levels)
- Day 1C – Friday 8.9. at 12:00 (40 min levels)
- Day 1D – Friday 8.9. at 17:00 (30 min levels)
- Day 1E – Saturday 9.9. at 12:00 (40 min levels)
- Day 1F – Saturday 9.9. at 17:00 (30 min levels)
The entire tournament started with flight 1A already yesterday, and after the opening speeches from the representatives of the series and the casino, the shuffle-up and deal was finally announced. The seven levels intended for late registration produced a total of 115 entries, from which a group of the first fifteen semi-finalists was formed by the end of the day. They are led by Swiss Jules Mady Hamidou, who managed to build up to a 503,000 stack from a 30,000 at the beginning.
