The popular WPT Prime series, which debuted last year at the Grand Casino Liechtenstein, is back! After a successful first edition, the casino announced earlier this year that the WPT Prime brand will not be absent from their schedule in 2024.
Original date change
Last year, WPT Prime Liechtenstein took place in August/September. This year, it was scheduled to take place from 18-30 September, with a subtle name change to the WPT Prime Liechtenstein Championship.
While the name change has remained, fresh information from the organizers reports the date change. The organisers resorted to this for a simple reason - the WSOP Europe festival announced a date that was the same as the WPT Prime Liechtenstein.
And since this could significantly affect both festivals, the series organizers at Grand Casino Liechtenstein have decided to move their date. The new date for the WPT Prime Liechtenstein Championship is now August 28-September 9, around the same time as last year.
The Main Event of the entire series will again this year have a guarantee of 1,000,000CHF with a buy-in of 1,100CHF and will take place from September 5 to 9. Last year this tournament brought a record 1,644 entries, bringing the prizepool to 1,644,000CHF. This made the Main Event in Liechtenstein the biggest WPT Prime outside of Las Vegas. The winner here was Hungarian player Dávid Kozma, who took home the trophy with a prize of 268,340CHF after a 3-way deal and a subsequent playoff.
