The year 2022 was in many ways a breakthrough and record-breaking year for the WSOP series, which celebrated its debut on Vegas Strip with record numbers. A total of 197.626 entries from players from more than 100 countries around the world across all events produced prizepools worth $347.9 million, making this WSOP the largest in history.
As the Executive Director Ty Stewart said: “The WSOP historic debut on Strip was great and record-breaking in many ways, but all the more we are looking forward to see what next year brings us. Poker players from all over the world can now plan a trip for a summer, when we will return to Paris Las Vegas together and to the future Horseshoe Las Vegas Casino. We look forward to add to the story of WSOP another thrilling chapter that we believe will break more records.”
The opening tournament this year will be Mystery Millions Event, which will hide bounty rewards from $10,000 to $1 million in envelopes. This year, the Mystery tournament took place for the first time and the popularity of this event was underlined by a massive 14.112 entries. Matt Glantz, whose unique celebration quickly blew the world, grabbed a million-dollar envelope.
The king of all tournaments will start on July 3 and bring a total of four opening days. The aim or dream of the organizers will certainly overcome last year's 8.663 entries (80,782,475 $) or or eventually attack the 17-year record of 8,773 entries from the year 2006. In addition to the Main Event, there will be classics such as $1.500 Millionaire Maker, $777 Lucky 7S, $400 Colossus, Ladies and Senior Championship ($1.000) or a number of main Championship events with $10,000 price tag.
The list also includes two innovations, which will be Gladiators of Poker (June 7) and Ultra Stack (July 11). The first one will become the cheapest bracelet event in history thanks to $300 $ buy-in and 3 million guarantees, the second tournament is not yet published, but the name suggests that it will be a lucrative Deepstack with a comfortable structure.
What do you think we will see a record year and breaking the legendary year 2006 record?
