The most anticipated "Let's shuffle up and deal!" already sounded at this year's WSOP yesterday, and for all poker lovers it meant the start of a two-week poker holiday. This year's Main Event, considered by many to be the biggest in history, started the day before yesterday at a relaxed pace, when flight 1A produced 1,040 entries and 721 of them advanced.

After counting the stacks and bagging them, it looks like exactly 900 players made it through last night out of 1,118 entries. South Africa's Jean-pierre van der Spuy is in the chip lead of this flight with a stack of 287,000, which was narrowly surpassed by four-time bracelet holder Julien Martini (284,700). Patrik Antonius (263,500), Anatoly Filatov (231,000) and both former champions who jumped into Day 1B - Johnny Chan (218,000) and Greg Raymer (201,400) - also settled among the top stacks. On the other hand, the controversial figure of this WSOP festival, Martin Kabrhel, had to leave the tables already in the second level after an unsuccessful A-high bluff.

In total, so far this year's WSOP Main Event has produced 2,158 entries, of which 1,621 players continue. Today we are waiting for the third flight 1C, whose advancers will join the aforementioned survivors, but then tomorrow everything will be decided by the strongest flight 1D, which will also have a separate day 2D.
