WSOP: Champion's bracelet revealed, we will know the final today!

Article cover

The keenly watched pinnacle of the poker year pleased the whole world yesterday when it officially surpassed 8,773 entries during Flight 1D - a record from 2006. But it didn't end with this success, and the entry indicator clearly surpassed the 9,000 mark during the day, and it still hasn't stopped.

However, since late registration is also open during the first two levels of day 2, we still have to wait for the definitive numbers of this year. The second day of play was divided into two halves, during the past night it was played by the advanced ones from days 1A/B/C, but those from the biggest flight 1D are waiting for the second day only tonight.

196 players used the opportunity to jump directly into day 2ABC yesterday, thanks to which the current total entry counter shows the number 9,538. That's over $90 million in prize money (!), and that number is still not final!

A lot of famous names had to listen to their seat-open yesterday, including the most watched one - the reigning champion Espen Jorstad during the second level of yesterday ran into a set six of Julian Aguirre's flopped straight, but since the board did not bring help, it is clear that no back-to-back miracle will happen this year.

Poker death was inexorable and gradually cut down even such greats as Daniel Negreanu, Adrian Mateos, Jeremy Ausmus or Greg Raymer. On the contrary, Damian Salas (147,500), Scott Blumstein, Joe McKeehen (220,000), Martin Jacobson (128,000), Ryan Riess (151,000), Joe Cada (241,500), Jamie Gold (248,000), Johnny Chan (372,000) or Tom McEvoy (20,000) packed their stacks by day 3.

Yesterday also brought a moment that attracted the eyes of everyone in the poker hall. Guy Fieri unveiled this year's champion bracelet to massive applause, smoke and drumming, which is once again gorgeous!

Before tomorrow the joint pilgrimage of all survivors starts on the third day, today we have the aforementioned 2D day, the introduction of which will definitively close this year's record breaking numbers. How many entries will this event eventually produce? Write in comments!
